How to Stop Negative Thoughts - 5 Easy Tips

Howdy! Welcome back to the blog! I’m excited to talk about this topic because I’m no stranger to limiting beliefs myself. Everything that I have accomplished started with a limited belief. Wait…what??? 🤨Well it started as “I want to do this” and then the limited beliefs came in from all over the place. When I wanted to pursue the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification all the limiting beliefs came knocking at my door. “I don’t have time to study.” “I won’t pass the exam.” “I’m not qualified to apply for the certification.” The list went on and on… But then I started to flip the script. “I’ll make time to study.” “I will pass on the first try.” “I’m qualified.” You probably catch yourself thinking, "I can't do that" or "I'm not good enough"? We've all been there, but guess what? It's time to hit the mental refresh button. Let's dive into the game-changing world of reframing limiting beliefs, with insights from the brainpower trio – Dr. Joe Dispenza, Jay Shetty, and Dr. Tara Swart. Get ready to shake off those doubts and step into a mindset shift.

1️⃣ Rewire Your Brain

Ever heard of neuroplasticity? Neuroplasticity is the brain's ability to adapt and change by forming new neural connections. Dr. Joe Dispenza is the master of rewiring brains, and he's got a nugget of wisdom for us. The key is to challenge and change those negative thoughts. When you catch yourself thinking, "I can't," hit pause, and replace it with "I am evolving, and I can." Again, it’s about flipping the script.

2️⃣ Purposeful Perspective

Jay Shetty, the author of Think Like a Monk knows a thing or two about shifting perspectives. Instead of seeing challenges as roadblocks, view them as opportunities to grow. When you're thinking, "This is too hard," switch it up to "This is a chance to learn and become better." It's all about finding purpose in every twist and turn.

3️⃣ Train Your Brain

Dr. Tara Swart is a neuroscientist that helps achieve mental resilience and peak brain performance. She suggests creating a mental vision board. Picture yourself crushing those goals, overcoming hurdles, and thriving. When doubt creeps in, visualize success, and watch your brain follow suit. My 2024 digital planner has a vision board for every month to help you cast a vision for the month and get closer to achieving your goals.

4️⃣ Embrace Affirmations with a Twist

Affirmations can help with reframing your thoughts. Instead of generic "I am" statements, get specific. Say, "I am learning and growing every day" or "I am resilient in the face of challenges." Make them your daily mantra, and watch how they reshape your belief system.

5️⃣ Surround Yourself with Positivity

Your environment plays a role in your mindset. Follow positive influencers, read uplifting books, and engage in conversations that fuel your mental fitness. When your mental diet is rich in positivity, reframing becomes second nature.

So there you have it – I’ve handed you the keys to a mindset shift. Remember, you're not rewriting your story; you're upgrading the script.
